Lined Wool Packer Coat / Loden Heather Plaid
Description
Filsons Lined Wool Packer Coat is a double-layer wool coat pulled from our archives and available in a special-edition seasonal plaid color. Based on their original 1914-patented Mackinaw Wool Cruiser, this warm coat retains the Cruiser’s full complement of pockets and adds a double-layer cape over the shoulders and arms. Their original Packer began its legacy of warmth and durability nearly three decades ago protecting men on horseback from cold snowy weather on ranches and in the backcountry. This seasonal release is lined with Filsons Alaskan Guide flannel for added warmth.
The Packer is made with their Mackinaw Wool, a densely woven twill from sheep raised in regions with wide temperature swings. These sheep develop a fleece that can protect them year-round in hot and cold weather, which is precisely why their wool does such a great job of protecting people. The uncommonly tight weave creates a barrier to wind and water while maintaining outstanding breathability. The flannel lining is made from the same fabric used in our mainstay shirt trusted by sportsmen, tradesmen and Alaskan bush Pilots for 25 years. The natural sheepskin-shearling collar can be turned up and latched at the throat, creating a warm and comfortable barrier against freezing wind and snow that extends to ear-height.
The four pockets, full-width back pocket, and caped construction creates two full layers of 24-oz. wool over the shoulders, arms, and torso for warmth. The rear hem is slit allows the coat to flare when seated for non-binding comfort. Fingertip length.
